Project Manager

People Power Solar Cooperative is seeking a full-time staff capacity to support the current Worker Member. A successful candidate will be a clear communicator and self-starter who is able to effectively manage project administration and implementation. The primary responsibilities will be a mix of developing relationships, note taking, organizing information to advance projects, writing about interesting stuff, and making logistical arrangements.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • 🐝 Be the owner of the running tasks within the Cooperative, by keeping things organized and updated in our project management platform
  • 🐝 Identify gaps in the Cooperative’s processes and programming, and take action on new opportunities to engage with Members and partners
  • 🐝 General administrative support, including assessing and reporting on compliance with California cooperative corporation insurance and workplace requirements
  • 🐝 Manage our Commons Model solar project Subscriber Members
  • 🐝 Receiving and distilling information for regular community report-backs (i.e. newsletter, announcements on People Power’s Mighty Networks site) with potential ways people can plug into achieving our mission
  • 🐝 Assisting People Power staff with a variety tasks including, but not limited to, grant writing, facilitating workshops/presentations that engage with People Power Members and partners

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ✊ Clear, fun, and empathetic communication skills
  • ✊ Demonstrated more than 2 years of experience in Project Management
  • ✊ Self-starter. Someone who can visualize the full concept, identify the gaps, and step into them
  • ✊ Knowledge and experience of community organizing models
  • ✊ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, or similar technologies
  • ✊ Proficient in setting up project management tools. We use Asana
  • ✊ Proficient in learning new technologies and platform to maximize effectiveness of our program administration
  • ✊ Enjoy taking notes and keeping them organized
  • ✊ Comfortable with video-conferencing software like Zoom or Google Meet
  • ✊ Alignment with People Power’s Commitment to a Just Transition, as outlined in our Bylaws
  • ✊ Experience working within the environmental justice, Just Transition work, and Cooperative framework. Understanding of energy democracy is a plus
  • ✊ Fluency in Spanish a plus
  • ✊ Reside in California a plus
  • ✊ A huge plus if you like to make things look pretty

BENEFITS

This position is a W-2 position within People Power Solar Cooperative, including Workers’ Comp and Disability Policies. The Cooperative has a culture supportive of self care and time off with a “free time off” vacation policy. Employee health plans will be offered.

Compensation will start at $70,000/year (equal to other People Power staff), and will adhere to the rules around fair and equitable compensation laid out in page 41 of our Bylaws.

After working with People Power for a minimum of 500 hours over the course of at least 12 months, this person will be eligible to become a voting Worker Member of People Power Solar Cooperative. For more information, please see our Bylaws.
